Whites welcome back former darling

Blue Square Bet South club Salisbury City have announced a number of signings - including the return of two of their former players.

The signings are all subject at present to final confirmation from the Football Conference and FA.

Mark Scott featured for the Whites on loan earlier this season and gave a commanding performance at Sheffield United in the FA Cup. He joins on loan.

Former Whites favourite Charlie Griffin, who also joins on loan until the end of the season, re-joins the club from Forest Green Rovers.

Also, Ugo Udoji, a 23-year-old defender, joins the Whites on trial on a non-contract basis. His previous clubs include Portsmouth, Bromley and a short spell at Bishop’s Stortford. He has also trained with the Glenn Hoddle Academy.

Manager Darrell Clarke said of all three players: “I am delighted to have obtained their services, and must thank the Board for allowing me to strengthen the squad. We are at the moment suffering from injuries to Will Puddy and Ryan Brett and it is vital that we make progress up the league and have a good finish to the season. It is important that we have tough competition for places.

“In particular, Charlie is a proven goal-scorer and was always popular with the fans.”

Regarding injuries he added: “It has not yet been possible to establish the extent of Will’s injury. Initial x-rays did not show whether he has a fracture, but we hope to have a second x-ray shortly which should reveal more. Ryan started training again today, and came through ok, but it is probably a little early to consider him yet.”
