Half-price incentive from Guildford

Combined Counties League Premier Division side Guildford City are offering a half-price entry incentive to supporters of any other football club - as well as followers of Guildford's other sports clubs.

City, who currently sit top of the Combined Counties League table, host local rivals Ash United in a floodlit derby match on Friday evening (24th February) at Guildford Spectrum.

Season ticket holders of absolutely any other football club in the world - plus ticket holders or members of Heat, Flames, Storm and any other Guildford based sports club - will be admitted to City's Spectrum football ground for just £3 on the night.

The match against Ash United, which kicks off at 7.45pm, is known locally as the 'Hog's Back Derby' after the part of the North Downs that lies between the two clubs.

The club hopes to attract a bumper crowd as Kevin Rayner's side look to push on after an emphatic 6-1 victory over Badshot Lea last weekend.

Chairman Chris Pegman is looking forward to a record-breaking evening: "Our attendances are improved on last season which goes to show how well the players are performing this year. They are producing fast, attractive football which will make for an exciting evening in what is always an enthusiastically contested derby match. Bringing the game forward to Friday means we can offer an exhilarating but inexpensive night to supporters of other clubs, who may not be able to make it on a Saturday."

Plus, for those who aren't able to make it on Friday, the half-price scheme will run for the rest of the season as Guildford City seek to boost their home support for an important and exciting end to the season.
