Farmer focusing on unbeaten run

Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central side Bedworth United go to Barton Rovers tonight with manager Steve Farmer looking to build an unbeaten run.

The Greenbacks returned to action after their two week lay-off with a much improved 4-2 win against Ashford Town — a result Farmer hopes will spark consistent form.

He said: “An unbeaten run would be a big positive and I think we are capable of achieving it.

“We've got games coming thick and fast so March will be a big time in our season. I've said before I prefer the games to come thick and fast.

“It can help give us momentum. Barton won't be easy.

“They are a good side but we are going there to win the game to build on Saturday.”

Saturday's win meant Bedworth tightened their grip on fourth place in the Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central. Tonight's opponents Barton have improved on recent seasons and they are mid-table.

Farmer will once again be without striker Ashley Robinson (groin), while skipper Ian Roper will be in the squad again despite struggling with an ankle injury.

Left-back Nathan Haines, centre-half Kyle Cartwright and central midfielder Kyle Baxter are also out injured.

Central midfielder Will Grocutt has returned to Tamworth after his loan expired, however, attacking midfielder Ash Spencer has finally completed his three match ban.

Farmer feels Spencer's return is a welcome one with Grocutt leaving.

“Will has gone back to Tamworth but he did well for us, it's just a shame we didn't get more games out of him because of the weather.

“We've got Ash back though.

“We missed him and I think he would enjoy the formation we played on Saturday with one man up front,” he said.
