AFC Wimbledon – Long Live The Dons
Sold down the river to a franchise in Milton Keynes, the club was founded by supporters of Wimbledon FC, led by Kris Stewart, in June 2002. They even have that replica of the FA Cup they won back in 1988 back in pride of place in the boardroom.
The Dons started again at the bottom in the Isthmian League First Division as AFC Wimbledon, but it has been under current boss, Terry Brown, that the climb really gathered pace boyed by a core support of 3,000.
AFC Wimbledon achieved promotion to the Conference South in 2007/08 beating Staines Town 2–1 in the play-off final. They followed that up winning the Conference South Title 2008–09 the final day. The club just missed the playoffs in the Conference last year finishing 8th.
Wimbledon, you feel are now on the verge of returning to the Promised Land of the Football League.
